Samurai to Salary men


Salary man is a Japanese term for a white collar worker on regular salary.
The term, And they are sometimes referred as modern samurais according
to some history experts. Typically the salary men in Japan have
to put up with horrendous working hours, less prestige,
and total submission to the company’s orders.
The company is like a clan, and to meet the obligations to their clan,
sometimes they over work themselves to death or chose to take their own life out of shame. Their roots can be traced far back as 1600. When Japan achieved internal stability, the military functions of many samurai were no longer needed and many became administrators working for the clan government. During the elimination of the samurai class in the 1800’s, many ex-samurai became white-collar workers in the government offices and industries.

In the famous book called, “Book of five rings”
written by the renown swords man, Musashi Miyamoto in 1600’s, he says a samurai should make utmost effort to achieve the highest mental state of “No Mind”, where you become able to accomplish a task without using your conscious mind.
This book is still widely read by salary men in Japan as a reference book to survive in a business world.
